QUEZON CITY, Philippines -- Two cars got involved in a head to side collision while both heading to the Gate 3 exit of the Ateneo de Manila University last July 30.
Driving a red Nissan Sentra, LS Student Trisha Malanya-on accidentally hit a silver Nissan Exalta driven by Anthony Cruz. The collision happened when she was turning left from the
Ada de Pedro, a passenger of Malanya-on, said that her friend was distracted.
“She lost focus because of the loud music. She's also distraught because she's about to leave for the States," she said.
Damages to Cruz’s car consisted of dents and scratches on the left side rear passenger door and deformity on the rear bumper and headlight while Malanya-on’s car got a broken right bumper and headlight. Malanya-on would pay for the repair expenses of both cars.
Although the cars were wrecked, nobody got hurt.
According to Detachment Commander Avelino Guzilan of the Security Office, an estimate of more than 10 car accidents happened in July alone.
When asked about his advice for drivers in Ateneo, he said, “Dahan-dahan lang [sa pagmamaneho]. Wag madali. (Drive slowly. Don’t rush.)”
