QUEZON CITY, Philippines -- Two cars were involved in a collision while exiting Gate 3 of the Ateneo de Manila University Monday, July 30.
Driving a red Nissan Sentra around 6:15 p.m., Loyola Schools Student Trisha Malanya-on accidentally hit the silver Nissan Exalta of Anthony Cruz. The collision happened when she was turning left from the College Lane to the west-bound lane of the University Road.
Nobody was hurt in the incident.
Ada de Pedro, a passenger of Malanya-on, said her friend was distracted.
“She lost focus because of the loud music,” she said. “She's also distraught because she's leaving for the States."
The rear left passenger door of Cruz’s car was dented and scratched and the vehicle’s rear bumper and headlight were deformed. The right bumper and headlight of Malanya-on’s car were damaged. Malanya-on said she would pay for the repair of both cars.
Detachment Commander Avelino Guzilan of the Security Office estimates that more than 10 car accidents happened in July.
Asked about his advice for drivers in Ateneo, he said, “Dahan-dahan lang. ‘Wag magmadali. (Slow down. Don’t rush.)”
